Micheal, a true muso and friend, gone

All of us are shocked and deeply saddened by the untimely death of one of the central figures in Auckland bluegrass, our dear friend Micheal Young.

He was a huge presence at our club, musical events, festivals, and other folk clubs. He appeared in a variety of bands and performed at a high level on guitar, mandolin, bass, and banjo, as well as singing.

A legendary jammer, he taught many of us to play.

He worked as hard behind the scenes as he did performing, and he was a generous and friendly soul whom we will miss terribly.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his partner, Trude.
