Old Timey Session Wednesday 26 August 2026

The monthly Old Timey Session is a great opportunity for instrumentalists to join with others and play tunes in the old timey style. All levels of players are welcome and listeners are encouraged.

Unlike Bluegrass sessions where individual improvisation is encouraged, in Old Timey sessions the musicians play the tunes together.

The session tunes are selected from list in the Resources section of this website.

Our Guest Night this month features Neil Finlay

Neil Finlay has had a wide-ranging career to date. Picking up the guitar as a teenager, his love for old time blues has seen him sharing the stage with many international blues and country musicians and touring with the likes of Brownie McGhee and Billy Joe Shaver. Finlay's musicianship spans widely across Country, Blues, Jazz and Swing and he has graced many a jazz bar, blues club and folk festival as a soloist or with one of his multiple bands.

The First half is open for all floor singers. Bring your songs and instruments and entertain an appreciative audience. Try out that tune you’ve been working on! See you there.
